Plasterers · Chelmsford & Essex
Walls and ceilings, finished properly.
Finesse Plastering is a father and son team working across Chelmsford and Essex — from a single skimmed ceiling to a whole house of period restoration. High quality work, a very neat and tidy finish, friendly service.
What we do
From a patch to the whole house
Everyday skimming through to specialist heritage work. If you're not sure what your walls need, we'll tell you honestly when we come to quote.
Skimming
Walls and ceilings skimmed to a flat, smooth, ready-to-decorate finish — over old plaster or fresh boards.
Plastering over artex
Tired, textured artex ceilings and walls skimmed flat and modern again, without the mess of removal where it isn't needed.
Period restoration
Sympathetic work on older and period homes — making good original walls and ceilings so the character stays.
Lime rendering
Breathable lime render for older solid-wall properties that need to be treated the traditional way.
Coving & cornice
Coving and decorative cornice run and fitted to finish a room off, plain or traditional profiles.
Rendering
External and internal rendering, patched or full walls, left flat and ready for the next stage.
A speciality of ours
Coving & cornice profiles
Period rooms lose a lot when the coving goes. These are some of the moulding profiles that can be run and made good — matched to what's already there, or chosen fresh for a room.
Illustrative profile drawings. We'll match or advise on the right one for your room when we visit.
Father & son
Two of us, one standard
Finesse Plastering is Steve and Spencer Finn — a father and son firm. Steve has over forty years as a qualified plasterer; Spencer has more than a decade in the trade. It stays a small team on purpose, so the work and the finish are ours from start to sweep-up.
We're experienced in period restoration, lime rendering, coving and plastering over artex — and just as happy with a single ceiling.

Prep & plaster
Everything protected, walls prepped, then coated and skimmed — worked back until it's flat.
Neat & tidy
Polished to a smooth, decorator-ready finish and the room left clean behind us.
The finish
Ready for the roller, not for filler
A good skim should need nothing but a mist coat before it's painted. That's the bar we work to on every wall and ceiling, whether it's one room or a whole refurbishment.
